You're using an ad hominem fallacy by saying the messenger is the problem and not refuting the evidence itself.

The USA is banning tiktok because it can't control the platforms messaging in case misinformation is being spread in the USA. Why is it that China can't also control the spread of this misinformation? Feels like you might be a chauvanist 🤷‍♂️

There's a lot of evidence out there from American journalists that the Chinese are in fact, not forcing sterilization on the Uighur population or putting them in concentration camps. https://medium.com/@braisedporkblog/debunking-the-uyghur-genocide-a-resource-list-a31dd0ea3d87

That would be hell for the dying person to die every day and hell for the caretaker of that person to either kill them every morning or leave them to suffer.

Interesting but I'm skeptical that they would develop this if they could simply convert a NG turbine and it would only be 2x less efficient.

The main reason global markets aren't absorbing the demand is sanction on chinese produced goods. But anyhow it will be interesting to see how the renewable energy boom picks up steam. Jupiter 1 hydrogen gas generator engine is a pretty huge milestone.

To whom/what did they give that money to? Bill Gates gives billions to a foundation he owns that then expeirments with drugs on Africans, triws to block out the sun with metal particles in the atmosphere, and gets countries hooked on Microsoft with free licenses instead of using open source.

The USA was the moral leader the world. But I watched CNN as a kid so...

I don't think all social media should be based in one country because that creates a risk of political censorship.

China installed 181 GW of solar power capacity from January to October 2024. It's installing about 200 GW of solar every year. In about 20 years we will have so much renewable energy and renewable storage mechanisms that oil will no longer be a reason for wars. In 100 years from now generative AI might exist and humans will be on Mars. Everything I do that's constructive for the world, that isn't exploitative, keeps these positive developments progressing however slowly so that future generations of humanity will not know our suffering.

It will be interesting to see more traditional BB forum software interconnect with other networks. All the gaming forums that will be able to cross post...

Just finished it. I like this show the comedy is pretty amazing and also it gets pretty emotional too without too much backstory. I did like the more backstory of the demons in seasons 2 and 3. I thought the humanizing of them gave an interesting perspective.

Looking forward to season 5, does anyone know the release date?

I'm just curious for the new or existing people? Lemmy.ml has taken a hard turn to the right since the reddit exodus. There's been a lot of pro-imperialist propaganda being posted on world news, and a lot less diversity of opinion. It feels more neoliberal and neo-con to me.

Does anyone want to share what their political leanings are?

I'll start; I'm anti-imperialist pro-state regulated capitalism. I believe we should have usage based taxes (toll roads, carbon tax) and luxury taxes, and I disagree with wealth taxes for people with less than $250 million. The state should spend more money on consumer protection in all industries (environment, health, finance, etc.) I believe in multipolarity vs. US hegemony.

I see like reddit this community is mostly western mainstream media news sources.

Unlike reddit this site doesn't have to ban alternative news sources or alternative opinions. Most people get their news from search engines that feature western mainstream media news sources.

I would like to help create a sticky thread that lists out all the available English media news sources and categorize them based on their geography and political ideology. I think this would help people discover new sources of news, while keeping in mind the underlying intent of how news is being reported.
