When someone does something stupid, I think it's only appropriate to blame them for stupid outcomes.
It's really just lemmy world. They're a highly coddled instance and communities hosted there follow suit.
Fallout 4 with the settlers of the wasteland (I think that's the name) mod becomes a cool base management game alongside the normal fo4 stuff. It makes the whole system feel worth interacting with, in my opinion. Give it a try if you haven't and are interested.

The name of some place has literally zero real world impact on your life. I could not care less how my ancestors died.
The fact that they're renaming it back to what it was already called by just picking some other person with the same name really shows how little meaning any of it has.

While I agree, just play whatever you want and stop gatekeeping, I do think there's a degree of bad design that often happens around difficulty sliders. Many games will have different difficulties that boil down to something like, "Easy: enemies have half health and do half damage", "Medium: 1x health and 1x damage", and "hard: 2x damage and 16x health"
Instead of a pretty well tailored, and maybe difficult challenge that can be overcome with skill or by using the game's mechanics, you just have a game that either doesn't challenge you or does, but every fight is going to be bullet/damage sponge hell.
