The AI/image recognition is more for when the drone gets jammed that it can still find it's target.

Well, here's his twitter. He seems to be doing rather financially well. Sadly, he's a bit Tesla obsessed.

I'm from the area of TN she grew up in and it is pretty solidly middle class. Like obviously there is some higher income mixed in, but this isn't the 'beverly hills of TN' (that would be Franklin,TN).

I don't love the idea of the Trump administration being in charge of creating a national ID system, but this maybe the best time to make one.

If Democrats proposed a national ID database the crazy 'FEMA is coming to round us up' republicans would freak out about it. As proven with Trump sending the national guard into D.C., as long as Trump does it they don't care.

Chinese property giant Evergrande's shares were taken off the Hong Kong stock market on Monday after more than a decade and a half of trading.

It marks a grim milestone for what was once China's biggest real estate firm, with a stock market valuation of more than $50bn (£37.1bn). That was before its spectacular collapse under the weight of the huge debts that had powered its meteoric rise.

Experts say the delisting was both inevitable and final.

"Once delisted, there is no coming back," says Dan Wang, China director at political risk consultancy Eurasia Group.

Evergrande is now best-known for its part in a crisis that has for years dragged on the world's second-largest economy.

I don't think you can? But, you can use a space and add an equal sign sticker instead

Starlink satellites are in low Earth orbit. They could still cause Kessler syndrome, but aren't as much of a concern as higher orbits.

Here are some quotes regarding this from and Aerospace America article

Regarding satellite proliferation, while there are many more satellites, the company responsible for most of them, SpaceX, places its Starlink satellites in a low orbit so they can naturally deorbit relatively soon — within five or six years, per SpaceX — if they fail.

At around 400 kilometers and into the 500-km realm — home to ISS and the SpaceX Starlink satellites among others — atmospheric drag plays a major role. Dead satellites and debris usually slow and burn up in the atmosphere in just a few years. This natural cleansing process accelerates when the sun becomes more active and solar coronal mass ejections strike Earth and cause the atmosphere to swell. “In those altitudes, we can probably do a lot and we will be forgiven,” Linares says.

Xbox/PlayStation/Switch pre-ordering is dumb.

Steam has refunds now though, so if I know I'm gonna play it day 1 I'll pre-order it and pre-download it, but when it turns out it's dogshit I'm refunding that shit ASAP (sorry stalker 2, hopefully you'll be good one day!)

TY for the link! I started scrolling through the index, but with 621 Cogs it got a bit....daunting, I wish it had a 'most popular' or 'sort by most downloaded' option, but I understand why it doesn't.

I host my own Discord Red bot for a (relatively) small discord server (~50 people total, ~20 who actively participate, ~10 who login weekly/daily).

I currently use Redbot as a glorified music bot, but I know it is capable of much, much more. Are there any suggestions on cogs I should install for it for our server?

This was not an issue for this plane. They replaced the entire throttle control module in 2019 and in 2023. Quoted text below is from page 6 of the preliminary report. I have bolded the relevant sentences.

The FAA issued Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) No. NM-18-33 on December 17, 2018, regarding the potential disengagement of the fuel control switch locking feature. This SAIB was issued based on reports from operators of Model 737 airplanes that the fuel control switches were installed with the locking feature disengaged. The airworthiness concern was not considered an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) by the FAA. The fuel control switch design, including the locking feature, is similar on various Boeing airplane models including part number 4TL837-3D which is fitted in B787-8 aircraft VT-ANB. As per the information from Air India, the suggested inspections were not carried out as the SAIB was advisory and not mandatory. The scrutiny of maintenance records revealed that the throttle control module was replaced on VT-ANB in 2019 and 2023. However, the reason for the replacement was not linked to the fuel control switch. There has been no defect reported pertaining to the fuel control switch since 2023 on VT-ANB.

This has always been my concern with living in the West Coast region of the United States. I worry I'll move there and in ~10-20 years my neighbor will shoot me over a glass of water and/or my house will burn down in a forest fire. Is this unrealistic and something I shouldn't be concerned about? Probably lol.

Also as the saying goes: 'those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.' I currently live in the deep red state of TN, so although I am not worried about forest fires or running out of water, I am deeply concerned about the political climate I'm in. Also, tornadoes (some say tornado valley is moving east)and 110°F (45°C) Heat indexes that will probably kill me instead.

The Hockey Canada Sexual Assault Trial. The woman who was involved had the initials EM.

Some Quotes from the woman judge who presided over the case: “Although the slogan ‘believe the victim’ has become popularized of late, it has no place in a criminal trial. To approach a trial with the assumption that a complainant is telling the truth is the equivalent to imposing a presumption of guilt on the person accused of sexual assault and placing the burden on him to prove his innocence. That is antithetical to the fundamental principles of justice enshrined in our constitution.”

“On the basis of all the evidence, I find as a fact that the complainant did express she wanted to engage in sexual activity with the men by saying things like “Is someone going to f—- me” and by masturbating, the judge says.

“I accept the overwhelming evidence that E.M. was acting in a sexually forward manner by masturbating in this room full of men and asking them to engage with her. She communicated her willingness to engage in sexual activity.”

I'm gonna vote no on this one

EX: if I read a post/comments in my web browser and then pull up lemmy on my mobile app it will show as read there as well.

This used to work on reddit where I was able to browse posts on Old.Reddit during the day and in the evening when I opened RedditSync they would show as read as well, but it required purchasing reddit premium.

This is kind of a weird request, but I recently discovered that Barotrauma's source code is available on github. I own the game and plan to play it that way, but hypothetically could I download the files, compile the game, and play it that way?

Minecraft will officially stop supporting all virtual reality headsets after March 2025, according to an update posted to the Bedrock changelog. The update means Minecraft will no longer support devices like the Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, or the Meta Quest (through Quest Link), as reported earlier by UploadVR.

Last month, Minecraft developer Mojang also announced that the game would end support for PlayStation VR headsets next March. When Minecraft’s spring update rolls around, Mojang says you can “keep building in your worlds, and your Marketplace purchases (including Minecoins) will continue to be available on a non-VR/MR graphics device such as a computer monitor.”

As pointed out by UploadVR, you’ll still be able to play Minecraft in VR on PC by using the Java version of the game — either by downloading a VR mod like Vivecraft or using a standalone VR port such as QuestCraft.

Minecraft initially launched on Samsung’s Gear VR headsets in 2016 before adding support for the Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR. Before ending support for VR, Mojang also shut down Minecraft Earth, its augmented-reality mobile app, in 2020.

Every year I struggle to think of a good halloween costume. What are y'all going as this year so I can steal your good ideas?

I feel a little dirty posting about Nuclear Option on a flight sim community, but I have been having ALOT of fun with it lately. It is nowhere near the depth of something like DCS, but it is in a happy middle ground for me between Ace Combat and DCS. Sometimes I just wanna hop in a plane, take off, and dog fight without having to go through a checklist of items or setting up my massive sim rig (for Nuclear Option I just pull out my stick and Track IR and I'm good to go.

Saw this and felt it was fitting for the sub. Luna Bear is looking like me when I have eaten 3/4 of a brand new pack of muffins and I think I should just finish them off at that point
