Same experience here. Unfortunately I try to avoid using government sponsored (aka controlled) “free” services and unfortunately Bing, Google and Yandex are exactly that. But I end up with DDG anyway.
But you definitely could do data mining and other things on compressed files.
It feels like privacyguides.org is somehow owned/heavily sponsored by proton.
