Been a while since i played but my golden rules as you said and some advices :

pick your fight, watch out for alliance or vassals. Stay neutral with as many as possible and try to push your target to war. Build on its border, insult him lower your reputation with him. Go for that casus beli.

Be REALLY careful with choke point this is really the core of a steady advance. Claim territory from chokepoint to chokepoint, or you won't be able to keep them.

Be smart with Shipyards and crew limit, this is trully the backbone of your game. Place them at stragic point so you can quickly recover.

I often had a huge ground army that followed the spearhead of my fleet, and I captured as many planet as I could to increase the war fatigue of my adversary.

I'm not a very good player either but these tips worked great for me, I hope you'll conquer the galaxy with them !!

Best way would be to subdivide the rear to connect the loose vertices, quick way would be to just triangulate it. But beware depending on where you use it you may have some normals artefacts always good to have a good topo regardless of what you do, if this surface is supposed to be hard add contention edges.

(I'm more from the vfx side of 3d so perhaps i'm too rigorous but what is still relevant regardless)

This is a tough one but I think your answer would obviously be geometry nodes, I don't gave access to a computer but if I remeber well there's a text node and you can inpu a string if you manage to get an array(dictionary) out of your file with all the names you can then with the index of your scatter point get the corresponding entry of your array. This is the general idea of I'd do it but I may mix element from different software :x I don't know if you can for each on geometry nodes.

An other option would be to create a python script and chat gpt may help you with that.

Good luck !

Do they have a port they can rely on nearby or do they need to bring it far ?

I advice you create multiple accounts on different instances, on for each "group" and switch between them. This is pretry easy on the gerboa app.

As much as i'm all in for automation, art should still be a job or we need to rethink society so that people (REAL PEOPLE) can still make movies, big production, video games etc...
