I'm reluctant to make blanket judgement of all Germans, but the fact that they never properly denazified 70+ years ago has never been on clearer display

PTB, wild that they're comfortable with .de accounts making broad associations between Jewish people and Israel but immediately ban if you're from .ml for calling that out

Back in the first world war anarchists were divided on what side to take, with Kropotkin among others signing on to a manifesto advocating for anarchists to support the allied victory over the central powers. There were anarchists opposed to the war who published a counter manifesto that still seems applicable today:

The misfortune of the peoples, who were nevertheless all deeply committed to peace, is that they trusted in the State with its scheming diplomats, in democracy and in the political parties (even the opposition parties, like the parliamentary socialists) to avert war. That trust was deliberately abused and continues to be abused when those in government, with the help of their whole press, persuade their respective peoples that this war is a war of liberation.

Bookchin was a lot of things in his life, including a zionist, by the end he had renounced anarchism in favor of his own thing. Although he has had some decent critiques, that sort of behavior has made it hard to take him too seriously.

I would recommend David Graeber frankly if you're looking for American context anarchism.

the whole libertarian/authoritarian axis doesn't really describe things well because it's a caricature. On the left Marxists and anarchists have similar end goals, the abolishing of class society, but a diversity of strategy as to how to get there. On the right, they are united in reaction and to the extent that any are "libertarian" it's purely out of self interest.

I'm sure the timing is just a coincidence, I know it was because he didn't pay his taxes on the revenue from youtube from the video he made about it @1:04

I mean while it is annoying getting called a red fascist out of pure tribal reaction, I'm also pretty stubborn when it comes to peer pressure emilie-shrug

If you are focused on organization and outreach. Maybe it’s worth considering finding a new instance that would would help in fostering that.

I'm not trying to be glib, I don't think any instances are good for that, I use other platforms with more reach for that sort of thing.

I come here because I can see what other anarchists and Marxists are saying about the news and shoot the shit with them. Plus I can access the largest trans instances from here, I don't really have any ambitions beyond that.
