Seems that Ireland data protection office can do some work... On non-US companies, at least.

They were always the ones pushing back against fines for GAFAMs.

Still glad about the fine though.

I'm confused as to how people can feel safer that their interests are more respected using proprietary software. Did I miss something on why brave would be a good idea?

I think EU didn't benefit my country on a lot of points. One big point though is the forces capitalism everywhere; like forcing to open energy selling to competition, leading to dismemberment of previously public sectors to the benefit of private company with absolutely 0 added value

It's not needed.

If another law says you have a right to create backups of digital content you own, then two laws are in conflict. Why would dcma have precedence?

No idea about US, but in some countries it would be up to judges, and with enough rulings it would be settled one way or another.
