To build upon this, just getting into a petty online argument about nothing keeps users coming back. I enjoy reading the back and forth between two strangers

Hopefully some of those more talented Reddit mods decide to bring their skills to Lemmy. I'd love to see the bot hunting algorithms here

Oddly enough, that could save humanity from "extincting" ourselves. If AI had all of those listed capabilities, humanity would be unable to contain it. AI would become our God, but with abilities like that, it would truly be a God. AI would be as scary and obscure as the Christian God is already, but it would be something tangible that we could interact with and worship.

A God that even atheists could love, which would also solve our problems. A parent we can continually ask "why?" that would never get annoyed, and always have a complete answer. Imagine having every single why/what-if question humanity can dream up being instantly answered.

I, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords.

AI could merge with humanity and we would become Borg-like, and become gods ourselves.

Or it could see us as a virus like the terminator movies and want to eliminate us.. So we get The Matrix.

In every scenario AI, given enough leash and development, will change humanity forever

That was incredibly enjoyable. Thank you. I never would've looked that up myself, and after I listened to 40 minutes of jazz I am now relistening to it with my partner. We're making tea and jamming out!

Americans don't need to pretend about it. We are well aware that our war machine is what keeps the dollar on top, and keeps our place on the world stage. Adversarial countries are well aware. The reason China has publicly stated they want a military that can compete with the US by 2050, is because the smartest people in government understand your influence only goes as far as your military can reach. That military ability has come at a cost of basic things a world leading country should have at home: healthcare, affordable higher education, etc. Imagine if all of those brilliant minds in the military were instead focused on the issues that face an average citizen!

You.. Didn't read the other comments. This was already settled.

I think you know pretty precisely what I'm on about. Was the rant about censorship not clear? 🤣

Well that settles it. I'm moving to another instance.

They also tried removed

This! This right here! This comment was edited by the mods or a censor bot! I fucking told you guys they were doing it!

I raised hell under a different name for a politically motivated mod changing my comments to agree with them, so I copied all the original comments into a word document and would edit them back to the original after the mod kept changing it, and they banned that username. This is some bullshit, and it needs to fucking stop.

One side thinks he's a traitor to Trumpism for not helping to steal the election, and the other sees him as a wuss for covering for Trump. So both sides see him as a wimp and not fully reliable.

I had a deployment with Polish soldiers. They are a modern and extremely capable defensive force. It would likely turn into the same thing we're seeing in Ukraine (smaller force that is well trained and better supplied vs sending a lot of bodies and old tech). I don't think we'll ever see a Polish led force invading Belarus or Russia without a massive NATO backing and a lot of foreign units already on the way to support them. Defensively, they will fuck you up. Offensively, they don't have the man power to go deep into enemy territory.

The Polish have historical grudges with Russia and are chomping at the bit to hurt some Russians. It is probably NATO that is holding them back from sending units to Ukraine
