A step in the right direction.
As many have pointed out, it isn't really our choice, since we have to get along and use what most people around us use.
The only solution I see is if the government mandates every messenger to use a common protocol allowing all to co-operate.
I think some of this instance's admins are not onboard with the rest. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Sorry about that, it took a while for me to understand the joke so I thought it would help to put the gist of it in the title.
