Uh how many bikes do you own?

I noticed that I know that background from previous pictures on this community.

That guess always has a good chance to be correct. With the amount of police raids per year at Deutsche Bank, they could just open a police station in the bank building to save some time.

But the article also confirms:

UBS is once again named as having invested in the companies, but so are UK lender HSBC and Germany’s Deutsche Bank.

It's just a quick web search, but there are the EU countries listed with their avg. renewable electricity 2021.

As mentioned, the momentary data isn't worth much. There are bad days with only 20% renewable electricity and there are good days with 120% renewable-only generation compared to the load. For years, European electricity prices turn negative on those days, as renewables alone in Germany generate 10TW more than the load.

That's why annual average is important and not to single out good or bad days pretending this is the norm.

Autumn started here and I have rain every day, temps dropped a lot. I'm checking the forecast every hour, hoping for a dry window to ride a bit.

But this summer was exceptional. Usually, I barely ride July and August, as it has been way too hot over the last years (32 - 39°C). This year, most of the summer was only 25-30°C, so I was riding as much as possible to not regret it when the rainy weather starts.

It's crazy how drones have changed warfare and camouflage. That field with the high plants is a fantastic visual cover, unless there is a drone with HD camera hovering above.

The same when I see traditional camo nets above vehicles, parked behind a wall. The the drone just peeks in, over the wall, under the net, from an angle and directs the artillery fire.

According to WSJ, the delivered US ATACMS have a reduced range:

The ATACMS models that were provided have a range of about 100 miles.

Source: https://www.wsj.com/world/europe/ukraine-fires-atacms-missile-at-russian-forces-for-the-first-time-3bebcdb1

And reducing the Taurus range was an initial topic, where the manufacturer clarified that it's not a problem:

"Taurus on the test bench"

"It had previously become known that the range of the cruise missiles can apparently be limited relatively easily from a technical point of view. This was the conclusion of a test conducted by the manufacturer on behalf of the German government. This would require a reprogramming of the built-in software." It's a different system and currently only tested on Eurofighter Typhoon and Saab JAS 39 Gripen, as the Taurus was a cooperation project between Germany and Sweden. Wikipedia lists additional untested launch platforms: Tornado, F/A-18, F-15K but none of those are in Ukraine.

The only one that I heard of that was up for discussion so far, was the Gripen. F/A-18 and F-15K would be up to USA again and German Tornados are old and the ones still in use are required operational in Germany for carrying US nuclear weapons, as there are currently no other approved platforms.

After a Taurus announcement, it would still take months to fire one, as Ukraine currently has no platform to launch them from.

Sweden already probed the possibility to send their JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, which can fire Taurus. But the consideration from Sweden is dependent on the NATO membership, to be able to defend itself. After the membership and following consideration and decision, then it would take a new training program for Ukrainian pilots in Sweden for the Gripen (and Taurus). That's why it would take a few months before launching a Taurus, after a possible announcement from Germany.

On top, one of the initial requests from the German government to the Taurus manufacturer was the option for a reduced range. So reaching the bridge would even then not be guaranteed.

I feel the very specific community topic split is already affecting Lemmy negatively. So I think having larger, broader community topics (e.g. 'commuting' instead of a community for every single option to commute by itself), with more diverse content, interaction and of course more visible activity, would also attract new users.

Right now some communities are so specific, that by its creation, it's a filter bubble by design. And then of course you don't get a lot of content or interaction, as only yea-sayer get accepted.

Interaction requires different approaches, opinions, options and of course people who upvote them even when disagreeing. The reply box is the correct option when disagreeing, not the downvote. That's how Lemmy will sprout.

tl;dr Broader community topics for larger, more diverse and more active communities

Holy shit 70 vehicles in one day!

I have the feeling Russia tried something again and failed miserably.

Could very well be targeted at premeditated offences, where team and driver evaluate what's cheaper. Not breaking the rules and not gaining a certain advantage – or breaking the rules, gaining an advantage and paying a (small) fine, as the the advantage is worth more than the penalty costs.

This equation changes a lot with a 1m Euros maximum fine and maybe prevents decisions to break rules.

The dotted line on FR24 means their location is unknown. FR24 just continues a straight line from the last know heading for a while.

Also they both accompany a Boeing RC-135W Rivet Joint SIGINT plane https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_RC-135#RC-135V/W_Rivet_Joint
