That explains so much about population distribution re: political leaning. I always wondered why it was just the outside bits..

Super fun fact that isn’t fun at all:

In most states (possibly all) if a child under 18 is married to an adult over 18, their legal guardian changes from their parents to their now-spouse. So teeeeechnically, depending on the situation for the change of guardianship, that could actually be a totally legit loophole. In a very much should never be allowed to happen sort of way, naturally.

Before this gets weird, I only know that because I needed to know liquor laws, as my state allows minors to drink with their legal guardian who is over 21 which does include spouses. Nobody honors that at all (typically not even for parents because it’s really hard to prove legal guardianship), but technically that’s how it works.

For the acidic dishwasher stuff, typically no, but some of the stuff formulated for hard water is mildly acidic. I only know that because I have hard water, and tried it before just getting citric acid powder, which will also strip kiln-cured glass paint, and I lost a nice batch of brewery pint glasses learning that.

But I’m sure it’ll be fine, and if not it’s like a whole new pan! :p

I’ve heard that modern dish soaps don’t strip the seasoning from cast iron, but soaps with lye, or acids (including acidic foods) will. And you are apparently supposed to indeed yes wash the pans with soap when you use them. But if your dishwasher detergent is acidic or has any sort of booster for hard water you might want to just skip the test unless you need to reseason anyway

I don’t cook with cast iron, so do not take that as gospel truth. I use stainless which I season sort of similarly, and honestly haven’t noticed a difference.

Moose: not even once.

I feel slightly better that I’m not the only one who struggles to find the right size. Particularly in an emergency.

Depending on brand, I’m between 6.5 - 8 4EW, and those are damned near impossible to find anywhere without custom ordering. I’ve gotten in the habit of bringing an extra pair of at least flip flops, just in case. But my car has an old pair of shoes that just live there now. Too tight and worn out for actual use but not bad enough to toss. They have saved my ass more than once.

Just wait until they realize they can claim anything they don’t want to deal with is a deepfake, and nobody will care, because by the time that’s proven to be factually incorrect the whole media cycle will have moved on.

I assume they were celebrating for when they go home. Most people abroad (who care about news from back home) don’t stay abroad indefinitely.

If they were only there for a week for work or whatever, I could see this being something to celebrate even if it makes zero difference where they are at that moment.

I believe the reason for this (at least what I’ve been told in a dairy-heavy area) is that nobody calls half and half “milk”. They literally ask for cream, creamer, or half and half when that’s what they are looking for, because it’s not consumed as a stand-alone beverage like milk, and has different properties. And it’s sort of always been this way because the cream floats and they’d skim it off, so the composition of the remaining fluid portion is probably not that different.

So basically it’s not included for the naming scheme because it’s a wholly unrelated product despite having all the same ingredients in different ratios. It’s on the milk spectrum, just like heavy whipping cream, but isn’t what most people would classify as milk.

As opposed to the US model of arbitrarily changing based on your employer, or whatever plans they choose to sponsor for you for a given year? Oh yeah, that’s in addition to whatever party’s in power tinkering with availability/access (look at mifepristone for an example)

What’s your point? “Your system isn’t perfect, reeeee!!!” Ok, and? How does this add anything, anything at all, to the conversation?

Not my copy, sadly, but it does have pretty fancy binding to make up for the lack of real blood.

It’s a shame the high speed rail projects were scrapped.. those trains take forever, even if they are adding capacity. And don’t get me wrong, any bit helps, but this really doesn’t help near as much as high speed would have.
