In any case, assuming Black loses the pawn, how do you force the king away from g8 if Black's rook stays on the 8th rank?

Müssen sie auch unbedingt. Die Grünen haben hier wirklich fast unbegrenzte Verhandlungsmacht. Denn wenn es mit ihnen nicht klappt, ist Merz auf die Linke angewiesen, und da wird es mindestens gleich schwierig, wenn nicht schwieriger (zumal die Linke von der Union noch deutlich weiter entfernt ist und ideologisch strenger ist als die Grünen). Die AfD wird unter Garantie nicht mit Schwarz-Rot stimmen, denn sie würde am meisten davon profitieren, wenn Merz' Regierung scheitert.
