Finding another job can be quite stressful when you're unemployed (as employers know you need them more than they need you) and severance packages depend on local regulations.

A few ex-colleagues are living close to the headquarters, but that company is basically the only employer in the area. Remote work is getting rolled back in a few places, so it's not that easy I would say.

Add on top of that people having children and not wanting to deal with the extra stress of job search when you have to care for your family.

I saw my ex colleagues recently, they told me I got lucky.

Third, I do believe there are third party clients (lemmy apps made by others) that have a word filter feature which allow you to automatically hide post and comments which contain certain keywords. (I think Voyager has that. Download mobile app here. Use the site version of the app here. Keep in mind that it uses lemm.ee as its default instance.)
