Did you expect different? Biden ran as an centrist establishment candidate and he's been exactly that. Anyway, in general, trashing the environment is something both parties agree on but it's more acceptable for Dems to do. They get to claim "we had to do this but I promise we're gonna incrementally slow it down, next year..."

It's capitalism. Driving the economy by profit means that each company has to race to obtain as much profit as possible, or risk losing to their competitors who are trying to do the exact same thing.

The difference is that the west outsourced the war to the Africans. It's probably costs more than direct intervention but they get a compliant country that they can use for profits and whatever else, and none of the risk to human life. I wouldn't call that progress, just neocolonialism
