The Soviets were the first to warn about the nazis and the last to make a non-aggression pact with them. Even then, Stalin only made it so they could build up the industry to eventually go to war with them. It was always going to end up how it did but the Soviets attempted to stop Hitler for years before the Moltov-Ribbentrop Pact.
