Are you sure you are looking at the right things to improve? Did you check all the screws on the gantry and toolhead? Is your tap (if you use it) solid?

I think the best entry here would be the Asahi Linux FAQ „does Apple allow this“. It has links which explain it in more detail than I ever could.

Why do you get that idea? Apple put quite a bit of effort into bootcamp for ARM Mac’s to especially allow other OS to be run on the arm Macs

If you (and the people who want to use these things) are on iOS, you could consider Homebridge
It is easier than a full home assistant install, and may be sufficient for what you want to do.
Home assistant might be overkill for your application (but it can do a lot more stuff)
Does your x-axis have any play at all? Try to pull forward/backward on your (cold!!) nozzle lightly and see if it moves, it should not.
