It's even people in tech. I work with someone who will gladly take tech claims at face value, and call me a conspiracy theorist on data collection. I said I didn't want a smart thermostat because it increases our attack surface and he immediately snapped back with "oh China is gonna get us". Like... No these things have had CVEs already and will again

It's very likely to be one of the NCR platforms. If I were to hazard a guess, StoreLine. Though it could be Encor/ISS45, ECRS has a pretty big market share as well. POS software is a walled garden of security through obscurity. Windows dependencies tend to be in part because it is such a small market, but also due to workstation/server requirements as well as remote support.

Long time support and stability are the name of the game. The industry doesn't allow for much downtime which makes any change significantly harder than a lot of other industries.

The Swedish approach was highly politicized here. Showing how it was "all about control".

Onion article or not it's a 2001 post, which says a lot in it's own right.

Someone I have to interact with tries to pull this double speak and it's not only infuriating, but so uncomfortable and unsettling.

I'm not saying that I don't believe that you can't change your gender... But if someone said that it wasn't possible that would make them transphobic? I just feel like you look to be validated whereas I don't care if people know that I'm gay/bisexual.

That's kinda how it works!!! I'm trans and would like to be gendered correctly! (Something he struggles with also). I've been bad about voice training, but I don't get misgendered in public, so I'd say the unfortunately public process of transitioning has a validation component to it.

These fucks try to use double speak to absolve themselves of any accountability while "just asking questions". Ugh

It's insane. The documentation is often times half accurate and feels like navigating a minefield of half truths, depreciations and context clues to find the solution to problems.

Depending on MDM and conditional access policies, I'd say probably

Only if you have an E5 license! If you have an E3 it's still compliance and you can trial purview features

I'll be so honest, the best android emulator is just downloading the Android SDK. You can pull off anyyyyy set up you want.
