Also they’re spreading some conspiracy theory the new flag is supposed to look like the flag of Somalia or something and that this is a prelude to Sharia law being imposed. I wish I was joking. Yeah, because it has blue colors and a star in it, it must be an homage to Somalia, couldn’t have anything to do with being the “land of 10,000 lakes” and “the north star state.” Or even the old flag, which get this, is blue with a big star in it.

I would have figured it would have been regarded as a white supremacist dog whistle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bonnie_Blue_Flag

Sounds like a woman CHOOSING WHAT TO DO WITH HER OWN BODY.

She didn't choose to have a miscarriage.

What car collisions do you view as not being preventable?

predators who hide among the rich don't fucking tell every person they meet that they're a predator

Probably not, but they might tell the guy who has a plane nicknamed lolita express.

I don't even know what Minnesota's flag looked like.

Uh, no one is going to miss that.

edit: I don't have any answers about racism. I didn't even know what the flag looked like before yesterday.

In March, 20 Mexican immigrants filed a civil lawsuit against two hospitals where Broadbent worked, saying that they knew of his alleged misconduct and failed to act. (Attorneys for the two hospital systems have asked a judge to dismiss the suit, arguing that Broadbent’s alleged actions against these women didn’t take place on their premises. One of the hospitals, MountainStar, also said in a statement it was not aware of complaints being made to the hospital itself, that Broadbent is not and was not a hospital employee, and that he doesn’t have privileges there now.)

That smells a little fishy.

Other local governments and states have sought to curtail solitary confinement. Last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a California bill to limit the practice, saying the “overly broad” ban could jeopardize the safety of staff and other detainees.

It seems like Newsom never makes it into the news because he did something good.

Interested to see where that data comes from, as looking at the lifetime emissions of an EV vs an ICE vehicle inclusive of fuel EVs are generally significantly lower emissions.

I'm working from memory, but I think I have heard their claim before, and the data it is based on is probably 20 years out of date. The proportion of electricity produced by methods like solar and wind did not used to be what it is today, and the production method of electricity plays a significant role in lifecycle analysis of electric vehicles.

The Cambridge link you provided notes that electric vehicles are not better for the environment in Poland because most of their electricity is produced by burning coal. It also compares France and the UK, and notes the difference between emissions because of the different production mix of electricity.

Under current conditions, driving an electric car is better for the climate than conventional petrol cars in 95% of the world, the study finds.

The only exceptions are places like Poland, where electricity generation is still mostly based on coal.

Average lifetime emissions from electric cars are up to 70% lower than petrol cars in countries like Sweden and France (which get most of their electricity from renewables and nuclear), and around 30% lower in the UK.

I don't think the President has a role in gerrymandering.
