/e/OS is highly insecure, and Murena tries to sell privacy to customers, while offering an unencrypted cloud service, that honestly isn't any better than mainsteam solutions like Google Drive, OneDrive or whatever.

At this point, you're better off getting an iPad, and using iCloud with the Advanced Data protection program.

If you actually want a secure, privacy-friendly and degoogled tablet, get a (preferably used) Google Pixel tablet, and install GrapheneOS on it. It's not just the most secure mobile OS out there, but it also doesn't come with any integrated cloud nonsense, so you're free to choose which service you want to use and whom you want to trust with your data.

According to multiple users on the GrapheneOS forum it works just fine https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/7950-does-grapheneos-work-with-google-fi/2

Don't recommend Voyager as a desktop client to new users. It just looks like a stretched mobile app, and the UX on desktop is piss poor. Just go with the default Lemmy UI, or Photon.

I hadn’t noticed the OG app had been abandoned

Last Git commit was on April 10th 2023, so it's safe to say that the repo is unmaintained

The history of UAD goes back even further. The development started on GitLab (https://gitlab.com/W1nst0n/universal-android-debloater), but that repo was abandoned on October 7th 2021.

+1 for the Universal Android Debloater, but you linked to an unmaintained version

Here's the most up-to-date fork: https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation

You have to have luck and find a good deal. The MSRP is still at $499 (which is absolutely ridiculous).

This is the way to go

For less than $250 you can easily get a used Pixel 7a or an 8a for around $300 (which were released in 2023 and 2024 respectively) and install GrapheneOS on it. The 7a gets updates until 2028 and the 8a until 2031. And GrapheneOS is much more secure than LineageOS or other ROMs.

There's a fork called Swiftgram, they might have left out the content restrictions in their App Store build. If not, you can try building the .ipa from source and sideloading it using AltStore.

iTorrent is pretty nice, but you have to sideload it
