As a tech worker, I do almost jack shit and make deep into the six figures. Honestly, I'd be fine if UPS drivers made more than me, good on them.

Frankly, in terms of total compensation, pay them more.

I'm sorry you couldn't finish it, but...for whatever reason, this comment is the funniest thing I've seen and hardest I've laughed at anything all day, so thank you for that!

Agreed!

SMS via 3rd party apps has and always will be buggy in some way, shape, or form, at least on Android. No clue why. Since the dawn of Android phones and after some 25-30 Android-specific phones owned in my life, I've yet to use a non stock SMS app that worked flawlessly all the time. Closest I've come, unfortunately, is Google Messages, and even that isn't perfect.

My parents use Signal and are the most tech averse people I know, so it isn't that hard. I converted all my friends to Signal. Switched wife to Signal.

SMS is maybe 3% of my usage these days and about 2% of that is just restaurant reservations or spam. There are two people I message via SMS like once a quarter and that's it.

I'm open to the idea.

Awesome idea that I totally just did!

Sorry, dumb question, what's GOG?

That's awesome. Also the lack of micro transactions makes me want to support them more. I kinda wish they had a donate button or something.

Personally, I disliked Sync for Reddit and did not use it. And, personally some of those quirks still bother me with Sync for Lemmy.

But...Jerboa, Connect, Liftoff, etc. currently also don't work as well or are as customizable as I'd like. Liftoff is definitely the closest, though, and I still switch back to it after each update to see how it is progressing.

For now though, Sync ticks more of my hot button boxes despite its flaws than any other app I've tried (so far).

Super weird, still haven't seen an ad in Sync and don't use any sort of ad blockers or anything. Is it regional maybe?

Damn. World needs more of you. ❤️

...holy crap, same. This makes me uncomfortable.

$20 one time for a well developed app that I use multiple hours a day is inexpensive.

I pay almost as much to multiple streaming services PER MONTH for a shitty experience and sometimes not a completely ad-free experience.

Anyway, in all honesty I chose the $1.99/mo because it gives the dev $24/yr into perpetuity. I also donate to instances. I also use Connect and Jerboa and Liftoff. It's whatever.
