Plasma 6.4 will automatically become the best DE whenever you read the title, but ceases to be so, whenever your eyes look at something different. It's the "quantum clickbait"-law of video (and news) titles. So, for the sake of quality assurance, please continue to read the title indefinitely, thank you.
Oooh, thanks, now I finally understand what this is about. Maybe it is a language/cultural difference or something, but the whole "sperm = child" thing never clicked for me. Isn't, if anything, the egg more properly a stand-in for a future child? And even then, only if fertilised, of course.
I dead-ass looked at this for almost a minute wondering if it's maybe a pop culture reference to a TV show or movie I don't know, where the pictured character actually eats children.
Wow, that is a useless headline, I was wondering - how is that different than any other day there? Did something special happen with the tourists? Did they clog up the entry in a way that the Louvre had to shut down?
No, it was in fact not the tourists shutting down anything, it was a strike, the workers using the power they have:
On Monday, staff at the world’s most-visited museum went on strike, forcing the museum to close its doors over concerns about the effects of mass tourism, according to the Associated Press.
[...]
The shutdown followed a weekend of protests against tourism that spread across Europe. In Spain, travelers hanging out at popular tourist destinations were drenched by demonstrators armed with water guns. Mass demonstrations also broke out in Mallorca, Venice, Italy, and Portugal’s capital of Lisbon, per the AP, with locals leading chants like “Everywhere you look, all you see are tourists.”
So while it is in connection to actions against tourism, the headline really makes it sound, like it's more a "bizzarre thing involving tourists happening" thing, not a strike.
There have been many ways, both formal and informal, to try and measure human progress towards a proper, humanist utopia. In the 20th century, the Human Development Index was created as a measurement. Karl Marx famously pointed out as a rule of thumb: "Social progress can be measured by the social position of the female sex". But all of those were, in fact, wrong.
It was only centuries after, when without a doubt, the true measurement of progress was found: The Chair Weirdness Index.
So this is a bit of self-promotion, but I can't think of a better way to link all of them in a neat way: Almost all the channels I recommend (excluding some that are on instances that did not allow mine to follow them, which makes the channel cards not load properly, sadly) are on the landing/home page of my instance, in no particular order:
Follow this link for the overview! - of course you can interact and follow from other instances (including other services like Mastodon). Lemmy does not work properly for following PeerTube channels in my experience, though - don't know about Piefed and mbin.
You can find a similar collection of channels on the landing page of peertube.wtf as well as a collection in a sticke post on [email protected]. too.
Meanwhile, the POV bots should be getting:
(I have to set it one up for my Fediverse stuff one of these days as well)
While I, personally, also think the point brought up feels a bit dubious - I do wonder what perspective lawyers with an expertise in investment/financial law have there. An additional "second opinion" by an independent law office on the feasibility of the claim would be interesting to read, if someone knows of any.
For the folks who want to know the cause of the investigation without needing to click through to the article:
Why is Reddit being Investigated?
Reddit owns and operates the eponymous social news aggregation, forum, and social media platform. Reddit receives a significant portion of its user traffic from individuals seeking answers to questions using Google Search. During the relevant period, Reddit assured investors that Google’s use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in Google’s search results did not have a material impact on Reddit’s user growth.
In truth, Google’s use of AI dented Reddit’s user growth by eliminating the need for individuals to visit and click through to Reddit to get answers to their questions. Rather, the answers appeared through Google’s AI search results.
I might be misremembering, but AFAIK, dopamine can't cross the blood-brain-barrier, so even where you want to regulate dopamine (and not, e.g. serotonin like more commonly for depression) in the brain, you have to do so via different medication (e.g. amphetamine derivatives for ADHD or dopamine agonists for Parkinson's).
