What's interesting is that I can't even take this comment at face value, without further context. Is this a well-thought observation from the POV of a trans person who is intimately aware of their struggle in a broader context? Does this commenter understand the nature of comedy, or more specifically, Dave Chappelle, more deeply than I do? Can I add my opinion to this heated subject being a CIS male who is also a minority? Does any of the aforementioned even matter?

What I can say is that I've liked certain parts of his comedy. When it hits it's incredible. When it doesn't I feel like I'm watching 80s Eddie Murphy again.

While I believe that anyone and anything is fair game in comedy, I don't believe that how he's done it towards trans people has been in pursuit of comedy. In his previous specials it came across as shallow othering without the nuance that comes from actually seeing the subject as human. There's no payoff.

It just reminds me of my upbringing where gay (and queer) bashing for the sake of itself was normal. At this point in my life I'd rather continue distancing myself from that stuff than try to read between the lines.

Edit: to the OP, I'm not attacking your observation or character.

Chiming in that editing with proxies, while potentially cumbersome, is pretty standard. Feature films and TV shows are often edited in 720p for that exact reason. ProRes or h.264, depending on your needs and capabilities. Final renders are just a matter of turning the proxies off.

I dabbled in kdenlive for half a day while looking for something my nephew could use for a school project. Didn't realize the lack of hardware acceleration until this thread. Still, it's a great piece of software and I'm looking forward to watching it develop further

Really? For me it's exactly the same as before critroll. "Anyone want to play? Sure I'll DM. See y'all this weekend!"

I enjoy the creature in the final product a bit more. The almost perfect creature feels a little too gremlin-y.

The "almost perfect" really nailed the smudged window look from all 80s and early 90s fantasy films. Everything but the subject really is perfect.

St. Bernard Parish's idea of left is essentially George HW right. Absolutely shocking that this started there.

I get uptight about little shit and then I feel horrible for making a fuss about it. There's only so much apologizing you can do before your kids second guess going to you. I've worked on it long and hard but it still comes out before I think first. As much as I try to not be like my parents it still comes out at times. Your advice is really spot on.

One to give out is to think about what needs to be done without asking your partner for a list or whatever. Be the good equal partner and that will help make you a better parent

It really should be taken as way over the top, but with shit like this said all the time without an ounce of irony... It was impossible to tell

Orrrrr they can treat it like music streaming and the IP goes to multiple platforms. I have no idea if that is economically viable.
