The Biden administration and Democratic allies in Congress are fighting to restore some of the lapsed benefits when lawmakers take up the 2024 spending bills early next year. But at best it will be a partial reprieve — the student loan payment moratorium, for example, is gone for good.

The collective impact: a cascading set of new financial burdens that are disproportionately affecting women, young people and people of color — a core part of the Democratic electorate. Coming on top of stubbornly high inflation, they risk further undermining the president’s pitch that he’s rebuilding the economy “from the middle up and the bottom out,” particularly among voters he needs to turn out in November.

Oh okay, so it’s simply the dem’s fault that the other half of the goddamn Congress is at on sucking putins dick, and pushing for white Christian nationalism. Biden hasn’t been able to get every win he wanted because gerrymandered red states will only elect kleptocratic fascists that cause chaos wherever possible. THAT WILL STOP ANYONE, it’s NOT about Biden.

Goddamn this fucking bullshit is insane, these fucking media cunts are owned by billies and they sure don’t want more unionization or to be forced to pay their fair share of taxes. Of course they’re gonna throw shade on Ds on any and every possibility.

I think voters are smart and can tell the difference between the party that would extend benefits if they could and the party that would have ended benefits way sooner if they could have.

Why would you think that? Large swathes of the country routinely vote against their own interests while blaming their problems on the party that would actually help them. And then they don't choose to access realistic information that would help them make better decisions.

Your optimism is inspiring, but IMO misplaced 🙁 Here in Canada conservatives like to use the same trick election after election: they strip "safety net" bare all until ~6mo before election. Then they throw a few one-time cheques before election and... voila: all is forgotten and forgiven. Same here in reverse: any downfalls just before election would define voter behaviour, not the systemic view at ability to govern.

Israel v Hamas (preventing indiscriminate bombing of civilians.)

Student loan forgiveness (should have froze payments indefinitely while trying every option.)

Investigating Epstein's and accomplices. (he should revoke the agreement that protected all Epstein's friends and brought everyone involved to justice.)

Pushed for single payer health care. (or at least created a buy in option for average Americans)

Investigation of the Judicial system and it's pay to play corruption.

Denied all requests for oil prospecting on all federal land.

Requiring all police departments that receive federal money to raise standers for officers

Force the democratic party to push for a constitutional amendment protecting privacy. (this would ensure abortion, gay and interracial marriages, as roe v wade was overturned on the bases citizens don't have a right to privacy when it comes to medical care 'and marriage')

Create a tax payer stipends to help with the cost of living.

I can go on and on but don't have all day.
