uhh, nothin'
I describe it as chaos
This is part of why I got into writing.
"Whatcha thinkin' about?"
"Oh, my book! Let me tell you all about it! Or, better, do you want to read it? Here, I'll send it to you!"
I either get a beta reader for my latest project, or they never ask me stupid questions like that again. It's win/win.
Then they hate you. This happened to me a couple of times.
STRANGER: A penny for your thoughts?
ME: I hope you have the time and energy for a three hour lecture of the history and engineering (maybe) of this obscure component of a fictional universe I've created. Do you prefer law or railways?
Word
But how do most nts answer this question well? How are you supossed to explain this, exactly?
"what are you thinking about?"
"stuff"
"what stuff?"
"stuff that I can't easily put into words"
