Grok has real-time access to info via the 𝕏 platform, which is a massive advantage over other models.

It’s also based & loves sarcasm. I have no idea who could have guided it this way πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ 🀣

Is it even possible to be more cringe in two sentences by declaring something "based" and then announcing it's "based" because of one's own self basedness for saying naughty words and doing le epic drug references? walter-yell

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My translation of Elon's use of based is that it means epic - as in le epic narwhal bacon at midnight.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 years ago

I'm less generous: I assume "based" means "bigoted edgy shit" when he says it.

That means that every blue check will have Elon's fantastic sense of humor.

Humor fundamentally fails when it is mass produced and repeated relentlessly. It defeats the very mechanisms that are supposed to make a joke funny.

But then again clapter is a thing, as well as "PICKLE RIIIIIICK" assholes.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago

clapter

Oh my god I never knew there was a word for it, thank you.

I remember when discord launched its AI chatbot and nobody ever used it. Literally never seen it being used in the 6 months or so since its implementation.

These LLMs all do the exact same thing. Stop making new ones, we already have too many.

These LLMs all do the exact same thing. Stop making new ones, we already have too many.

The persistent LLM enthusiasts that I tend to see either want to aggressively and even maliciously replace "meat robot" workers for some techbro idealistic reason, or they crave some Madonna-Wh*re-Complex digital waifu that always seems just within reach to be their eternal helpmeet and indulge them endlessly.

Or both.

Speaking of LLM enthusiasts, did you see this banger from Big Yud?

"Among the dangers of AI is that LLMs dual-trained on code and biology could enable computer viruses to jump to DNA substrate. Imagine getting a cold that compromises your immune system and makes it start mining Bitcoin" - Eliezer Yudkowsky

Truly the greatest minds of our time.

tha-... that's not how that works

the fuck
is he ten?

I got bored and decided to illustrate this

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Listen Jack, ChatGPT is gonna code Bored Apes & Slurp Juices into your DNA whether you want it to or not, it's the future

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Getting paid millions by billionaires by saying utterly ignorant shit like that after vomiting up a lot of edgy contrarian Harry Potter fanfiction. Meritocracy, everyone. doomer

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

Fuck yeeeeah I'm gonna be mining bitcoin with my DNA

That's definitely possible

it's like these guys are all feeling around the edges for the idea of Capital as a Dark God but because they have no conception of class it comes out like this garbage

investigate Fort Detrick death to America

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

One reason I dislike it is personal. I like the word "grok" but I'll have to stop using it everywhere but here. People might assume I was a Elon xBOY (fanboy).

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I generally don't have a good time when I talk to people that insert "grok" into ordinary sentences. Tends to be people that have a lot of Main Character Syndrome that started or got boosted by Heinlein fiction.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I thought grok was from the Gor novels, the pinnacle of late 60's-early 70's pulp trash

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Grok is a neologism coined by American writer Robert A. Heinlein for his 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land. While the Oxford English Dictionary summarizes the meaning of grok as "to understand intuitively or by empathy, to establish rapport with" and "to empathize or communicate sympathetically; also, to experience enjoyment"

Different chud.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"thou art god, grok deez nuts lmfao"

^ literally the entire novel summarized

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I never finished it; it was too insufferably arrogant and full of Great Man Theory fever dreams.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

To be fair a space sex wizard might actually be able to pull off some great man shit

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Sure, if the writer decides that the Great Man has the magical chops to be the Great Man, yes of course in the setting that is the Great Man. It's how the Thermian argument works.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

I'm aware of what Grok means. I just remember it being explained to me as a thing they say in the Gor novels, by someone who is simply far too intelligent (and too good-looking, IMO) to have enjoyed the Gor novels.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

Nah, it is from a polyamorous Martian religious teaching

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

this dang robot can't drink at all

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Actually making cocaine is very easy and pretty safe. I’m pretty sure it’s just an acid/base extraction.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 years ago

Yeah there's really no way to blow yourself up. XAI doesn't grok shit

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 years ago

Also you can make pretty much anything with a vaccum, a fume hood, a centrifuge, the three main acids and an organic feedstock, if you're prepared for shitty yields.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Are people still buying into this fake AI shit?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 years ago

"AI" continues to be a triumph. Of marketing bullshit and false labeling.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

The people who throw money at random companies hoping it'll come back multiplied really believe AI is the real shit and that's enough influence to make everybody work in something AI related, even if the devs/companies themselves know it won't go anywhere.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Why the fuck does every tech company need to have an LLM

This is gonna drill Twitter into the ground even harder. So many engineering resources on this dumb shit and each LLM hit is very expensive to run

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago

smuglord the chatbot.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago

Get coca leaves wtyp

the rest doesn't require any degree outside of don't be a dumbass

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 years ago

my-hero tries so hard to be funny he tried to solve his deficiency with AI and it's still not funny.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

This isnt "AI", it is obviously just a joke some dork whos never cooked anything for a living has hard coded into the software. The ideas are too specificly incorrect.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

i hate that so many companies are spending this time to make little toys instead of training ais to do actually useful things to reduce pain and strain in the workforce (without fucking over workers) kitty-cri

at least china is doing it, i guess

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

Tweeting on the throne? Old, dΓ©ja-vu, boring

Groking on the throne? Breathtaking, seamless, inspiring
