I want to thank whoever game Kansas the 1 vote. I was the only one giving them any votes the first 3 weeks so it means a lot to see them get respect even after I dropped them from my ballot.

If Kansas can win the next two to get bowl eligible, they will be back in my ballot too.

I dropped them to 25 from 15 after their L (I didn't vote prior to week 5). It's their first loss and I still think they're pretty good. Well, at least on one side of the ball.

This many first place votes (proportionally speaking; doesn't look like we got a ton of ballots this week) makes me nervous. Especially before the biggest game left on the schedule.

Yeah it looks like we're settling on a #1 here, good luck holding onto that!

I only care about that natty trophy. Can I get a natty after rooting for a punching bag and going to school during the Charlie Strong years?

As always some notes:

  • Biggest winner was Oregon State, advancing 6 spots by beating Utah
  • This ignores kentucky, who essentially moved up 8 spots by beating an unranked florida at home to go from unranked to 18th
  • Biggest loser was Utah, dropping 13 spots by losing to Oregon State
  • Penn State was only ranked 3rd or higher in 1 poll
  • c/cfb votes in fresno state over LSU, once again showing those cowards at the ap and coaches what's up
  • #15 UNC, #18 kentucky, and #20 Duke, and Kansas only getting a single point. It's a weird year for cbb
  • WVU gets a single win and all the sudden the mountaineer bandwagon is unstoppable

I'm curious, who were your top 5, if you filled out the ballot.

My ballot this week:

  1. Michigan
  2. Texas
  3. Penn State
  4. Oregon
  5. Ohio State
  6. Georgia
  7. Washington
  8. Tennessee
  9. Florida State
  10. Alabama
  11. Oklahoma
  12. USC
  13. Kentucky
  14. Ole Miss
  15. Notre Dame
  16. Miami (FL)
  17. LSU
  18. North Carolina
  19. Washington State
  20. Iowa
  21. Texas A&M
  22. Oregon State
  23. Utah
  24. Louisville
  25. Duke

My rankings are totally subjective, based on my feel for the vibe of a program. Tennessee is fairly ranked here and I will die on that hill with no air support. I'm really high on Michigan even though they ain't played no one Pawwwwllll. I'm not very high on USC because they ain't played no one Pawwwwllll. FSU I'm also relatively low on. Sure they beat an ok LSU team week 0, but they haven't raised my eyebrow that much since. I've had georgia about this low for the past few weeks, but I've also had kentucky about this high the past few weeks. I've kept LSU this high because it felt like they handled that loss pretty well, but the longer this week has gone on the more I've doubted that. I also just really like the brand of Iowa football, so I'll be quick to vote for them.

FSU feels like they're waiting on the epic loss that'll send them nose diving out of the rankings. They've had too many stupid close calls.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

In my mind FSU, Texas, and Penn State are all waiting on that meltdown loss. But until then, I think top-10 rankings for them are justifiable.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

With respect to Texas, you shut your whore mouth :)

Honestly, I don't think we've really come nearly as close as FSU. The indicator to me is the multiple single score wins over teams that are just atrocious.

Edit: Wording wasn't quite what I wanted.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah Texas (and Penn State) does look to be on more solid footing than FSU.

Also I have Georgia half-included in that mental list. I forget the exact stat, but something like “in 5 of their 6 games, they’ve been down by 10 or more in the first half”. Wouldn’t be too surprised if they lost one of their games—they have 4 now-ranked teams remaining on their schedule

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think Georgia losing at this point is basically a coin flip. Question is...who gets into the CFP between a one-loss SEC team and an undefeated Pac champ?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

If it’s USC, USC.

If it’s Oregon State, the 1-loss SEC team.

Week ñ̷͖͈̰̘͙͂̇́͆͠µ̵̗͖͍̪̃̉͋̈́̎͜l̵̢̯̪͍͈̈́̓̂̿́l̶̟̙͉̟̟̐̿̔̐̅ c/cfb poll results (you may want to edit in the week number for the title)

Kind of a bummer that Fresno State and Air Force aren't getting much love. And Kentucky shooting all the way up to 19? It JuSt MeAnS mOre (pay no mind to the fact that my ballot had them at 14 - it's just a dumb computer and doesn't know better)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Fresno State is occupying the same part of my brain cuse was last week, and a loss from say Louisville would likely see them make my ballot.
