I have court tomorrow afternoon and honestly I'm freaking out. I was arrested last month for driving with a suspended license. Now, some context: I did not know my license was suspended. And no, I'm not just saying that, I mean I literally had no idea it was suspended. I was NEVER informed, no letter no nothing. When I called the secretary of state I was informed the reason was because I needed to get SR-22 Insurance due to a car accident I got into back in January, (no car insurance at the time hit ice then a tree). Did my court hearing over zoom, showed my new regular progressive car insurance, Judge accepted it, had to pay a fine with 6months traffic probation. Now I had never even heard of SR-22 Insurance before let alone that I needed it. I have it now obviously, and my license was immediately restored, but I still committed a crime in the eyes of the law. Also, this is my first criminal offence in 30yrs (my entire life). What do I do? I'm sure the judge will have heard the excuse "I didn't know it was suspended." a million friggen times, but in my case I honestly did not know. I'm freaking out and need some advice on how to handle this tomorrow. P.S: Please no jerks or trolls. I'm already scared as it is. What I need is advice and support. (Seriously hoping a lawyer sees this)
