Original Title: Is there a reason why “evil rich guy wants to bulldoze down the main characters’ summer camp to make condos, a factory or something similar.” was such a prevalent plot point in kids’ media during the 80s?
I know it might be as simple as “easy way to make a modern-day (for the time) villain”, but I also know how polarising capitalism was during the decade, as well as how many times it showed up in kids TV and movies. Made me wonder if it was so commonplace of a plot element for a reason.
