The letter goes on to say it’s not the first year Canadian wildfire smoke has been “an issue.”~“With all the technology that we have at our disposal, both in preventing and fighting wildfires, this worrisome trend can be reversed if proper action is taken,” they wrote.

Can't they cooperate with canada if they have such technology? Currently, forests in that region are exposed to a drier and hotter climate than before. Given the species that populate that forest, it's the equivalent of a forest of matches ready to go. It's progressively harder to control.
