I'm sure most Tomb Raider fans are playing the remaster, but here's a fan-based open source application that runs the GOG or steam releases of TR1+2. (hexbear.net)

I was playing around with it this morning and did a run through of caves in TR1. It runs at 60 fps in 1920x1080 and it's got a whole slew of bug fixes and even features like Lara's braid!

I can't even get the GOG release to run properly without bugging out so this is a godsend.

Major props to these devs.

*Also just found out they restored the skybox to the Lost Valley level and it hits totally different!

Did you play those at launch? I did, but I'm curious at the impressions of someone who didn't.

Yup I'm an old fan. I played through 1-4 on the ps1, AOD on the PS2, and Crystal Dynamics games on PC.

Nice! I'm old enough to have kind of experienced the full evolution of modern video games and I have a weird interest in seeing how people react to dated gameplay loops which is why I asked

I've seen people pan the old games for the clunky controls mostly.

Also worth noting it runs the original games off CD too if you want to go that route.
