I believe the W-8 BEN form is for declaring yourself a foreign person for tax purposes, so they’re probably trying to avoid taxes because they’re sovcits. Funny that they put America as their country of origin because 1. Yes it’s not a country as the bank said, 2. They have no other country to put in there because they’re from the US, and 3. Putting the US as your country in a form for foreign nationals is peak irony.
Isn’t there a thing where they think that the US wasn’t founded in 1776 and there’s some alternate nation and we know because the flag has gold trim? Idk, something like that
It's something about the US government being a private corporation and the "real" America being some kind of anarchic state with laws that the gov corp needs to follow despite there not actually being a "true" federal government to enforce them. The gold fringe flag is something about hanging one in a court room makes or means it's a naval military court and therefor has no jurisdiction over anyone not in the navy.
So they took out a TSP loan and tried to get out of paying it back. TSP is the US federal government employee savings plan, sobthis person is or was a federal employee or member of the military. You can get a loan against for savings, but the money is taken out of your account and if you don’t pay it back on schedule, it gets treated as an early withdrawal and subjected to income tax and early withdrawal penalty of 10%.
