Growing up, my dad had this crazy girlfriend who would sometimes refuse to leave our home during arguments. A few times she had done some concerning things like bang on windows and doors until 4 am, at which point we would call the police to escort her off our property.

My dad told me that once you call the police on someone, if they leave the scene they can be prosecuted (I hope that is the right word, I am still learning ๐Ÿ˜ž). Is this true?

I can not seem to find a clear answer online, and it occured to me that it may not be true. Thanks for any clarity!

edit: the way my dad explained it to me was that once you call the police, the situation automatically becomes a "crime scene" and is therefore illegal to skedaddle.
