Hi all,
I've got a Z Fold 4 and am about to start a new job where they allow me to use my own devices for work (yay!)
I'd really like to use Dex as much as possible. I've been testing it wirelessly on the cheap with a generic BT keyboard and mouse and a miracast dongle in the back of my monitor. It's actually pretty decent to be honest, but I have a few questions if anyone can offer any insight!
- Any thoughts on using the Samsung M5 Smart Monitor for wireless Dex? I've heard there's slightly less latency when connecting the peripherals to the monitor instead of the device itself?
- Google Meet - I feel like this may end up being my nemesis ๐คฃ Is there any way at all to make this work with an external webcam, maybe via the monitor? Also, screen sharing... at the moment it's knocking off Dex when I enable screen sharing. Does this only work wired maybe? Or is it just because my miracast dongle is super old? ๐ Believe the monitor has a Google Meet app, but guessing I can't use that at the same time as Dex?
- Scroll wheel on the mouse seems to be a bit ridiculous... do I just have to live with it?!
- Best RDP app? Got a Linux machine running through NoMachine, seems okay but be good to know if there's a better solution
- Best solution for Slack? I'm guessing web app?
- Best browser? Firefox maybe?
The new place uses GSuite, so will mainly be using their apps, Slack, web browsing etc. Bit of dev work which I can do on Linux. Only real work-related concern is figuring out Google Meet, as I'll need to do technical demos etc (of a web-based platform). I've used office for years, think I may actually miss Teams!
Not touched my personal Windows laptop since I got this phone ๐ would be ideal if I can use it for literally everything!
