This pic makes me sad. Lil bro tried so hard and got so far...

[–] [email protected] 185 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

But in the end, it didn't even matter.

[–] [email protected] 57 points 3 weeks ago

Goddamnit. I was sad and still laughed.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 3 weeks ago

He had to fall to lose it all. :(

[–] [email protected] 92 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Little guy would of made it if he had just shot his web straight up and attached himself to the sun.

Spiderman: The Game (2002)

Is he stupid?

[–] [email protected] 71 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I feel bad for the spider, but I have admit the web in the glass is really cool looking, like a piece of art. I’d probably preserve that if I could (minus the spider corpse)

[–] [email protected] 128 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The spider corpse is an important piece of the art! It adds a memento mori aspect to what is otherwise just a cool place a web was spun.

[–] floquant 25 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's also the author of it, so it would definitely belong

[–] [email protected] 24 points 3 weeks ago

More art galleries need to stuff and display the artists corpse alongside their work.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The spider gives context and removing it would diminish everything

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah that could be a horse web for all we know.

I hate spiders and even I feel bad abt this shit. It’s just a cruel scenario

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My stepdad worked hard all his life. He managed to buy his own plane and fly it all around. To some flying up in a plane might seem somewhat insignificant, but most people never get to fly at all.

We've only got so much time to get a plane.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You can get kit planes. I heard the Dyke Delta is the holygrail.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Dyke Delta

Nice try, but I ain't Googling that.

Last time this was posted, the some answers said it's actually likely a nest (funnel web spider or something?) and the "dead spider" shed skin.

So the metaphor for capitalism is... The Rich carry on eating the produce of the Poor, while the socialists look on and think the system is dying? Haha! Checkmate Poors!

[–] [email protected] 27 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I have an idea for a new type of horrible animal byproduct farm

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Pretty sure what we already do to collect spider silk on an industrial scale is worse than this.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

Do we collect spider silk on an industrial scale?

I remember seeing something about genetically modifying goats such that they would produce the proteins in spider silk in their milk, so the milk could be processed and then silk could be mechanically spun. This is a half-remembered TV documentary from years and years ago, so.

Apparently it's knocked out with carbon dioxide?

Still pretty creepy, and not because of the spider.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

That was truly disturbing to see. I'm not sure why but I did not like that at all.

TBH spider wasted fuckton of silk on unnecessary web. It died because it wasn't smart enough

[–] veniasilente 23 points 3 weeks ago (7 children)

So yeah, a metaphor for capitalism.

look at you, feeling superior because you think you can outsmart a spider.

next time you fall into a well i expect you to shit silk in an efficient way to escape

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

Y’all know that spiders can climb right?

And that spiders often make webs that look like this? Famously, funnel spiders?

Sine wave formation might have been more efficient and hence resulted in survival, but I'm uncertain as to whether the web structure and anchor points would have allowed for it.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What in the middle management is this? Gonna tell a spider how to spin their web... ppfffttt lol

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Well, which one of us died mismanaging their web placement?

Can't they just climb the glass?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

I'm sure the spider tried
