As the title says.

Saving pictures and videos worked since a long time but since about a month or two, it would freeze up connect and make it crash.

Then a next version fixed it, then a subsequent version broke it again and it has been broken ever since, even after multiple new versions

Any idea when this might be fixed?

Edit: this is on Android v1.0.275 but has been broken in many other versions before that for at least like 2 months now

I can save images just fine. It takes only 1 or 2 seconds.

I know this because of the fact that there's no share image button. In order to share a meme I have to save it, then share it via my target platform by finding it in my files.

So... maybe we have different versions? 1.0.275 here

Weird.

I have a share button and thats currently how i save videos, i share them to Firefox where i then save them

Hm... I wonder if you need to change an app access setting

I've noticed for the last month or so that Connect freezes for ~10 seconds when I save a picture. I got a new phone recently so I was hoping it was just a problem with my old one, but unfortunately it's still happening.

Nope, it's connect and it only happened since about a month, maybe two

I've never seen that. Maybe it's something to do with your device type or OS version?

No I don't think so.

It worked perfectly well on my device and then it stopped. I made a post months before about it and I believe a dev mentioned something about having fixed it

For what it's worth, I have a OnePlus 12 with 16GB mem and 512GB storage, i doubt that connect is too much for this device

I thought maybe it's running a MediaTek chipset or something but no, it's a Snapdragon. Then I was thinking maybe it's an issue with Connect saving to an SD card but this device doesn't have a slot. I don't think it's a hardware or OS problem either. Have you tried changing the download directory? If it's not the normal Download folder, maybe try changing to that. If it is, try Documents or just the internal storage root.

Some have upvoted the post and presumably because they've also experienced something similar and if that's the case, it would be helpful if additional perspective and information can be provided.
