Woah! We should DEFUND MY CHILDS EDUCATION and give THIS Company BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of Dollars instead!

So how much carbon emissions did this release?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Not much more than if the test was successful. The fuel would have burned either way.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I guess if the rocket hadn't disassembled itself, then it could be used again.
I think static fire is part of the testing to proceed to a launch? So, now they have to build another and static fire that as well in order to get back to where they should be.

And presumably a launch pad

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Much less than if it had actually launched. It burns on the ground, when it blows up in the sky its just pollution. Not to mention all the "venting" that happens during engine relights and coast periods which just means dumping methane and oxygen.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

That's not necessarily true, rockets Cary there own oxygen, pure Oxygen can burn hot enough and oxidize enough to burn nontraditional things like steel and concrete, it would also vaporize toxic heavy metals and exotic foreign materials from the rocket itself.

Literally what spaceX said years ago

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I hope that put a small dent in the Nazi's finances.

I believe SpaceX is funded by taxes.

Upon further research SpaceX is funded by mixed sources, personal, private and government.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

The ship can burn while standing still so I guess it passed the test. Great success!

Get in the starship, Elon!

couldn't have happened to a nicer nazi.

Reason number 75 people should always be well clear of these tests. When you build a rocket, you are essentially building a guided bomb that you are crossing your fingers doesn't explode outside the chamber.

Russia lost a good chunk of their rocket scientists in the early 1900s when a blast from one of these took put everything within like a mile radius.

Yup, except for the really important guage that is installed on the pad, that only Elon musk is smart enough to be able to understand.
He absolutely has to monitor that guage in realtime.

If you can't calculate a blast radius accurately, how good of a scientist are you really?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I mean, we were cowboying this stuff back in the day. The science was not very exact, so its hard to know what the blast radius is. I will say, you only make that mistake once.

Why does this video repeat the same shit twice? Just let it play past the end and (my client at least) just starts replaying it anyways, so what's the point in sticking a repetition into the file itself? I hope the compression at least results in it not using much more space for the 2nd copy.

🎶 AND THE STARSHIP’S RED GLARE… 🎵

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Boy howdy, his rockets sure do blow up a lot, don't they?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It ain't got no gas in it

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

In it?

I knew I did something wrong...

That looks just like Elon's political career.

Elons ketamine fueled reply to being sued over xai's emissions polluting the air.

All I can say is. BEAUTIFUL!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Another one they filled too fast?

Looks like the front fell off.
