Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

What am I seeing here? The "Designated Peacekeeper" fired at Gamboa? I don't really know the context behind this. Which shooting was this - SLC?

Dude (Gamboa) has a rifle and is walking towards the crowd. A peacekeeper (security guard) shoots at him 3 times, hits the guy with the gun once, and kills a bystander behind him

Uhg. Regardless of whether Gamboa was a justifiable target, it's in the first four rules of firearm safety - know what is behind your target. Fucking shameful.

You're welcome! It's a confusing story. The operators of the 50501 protests have attempted to paint this as some kind of active shooter situation that was disarmed by their brave "peacekeepers", and that seems to be the story the cops are going with as well. This video shows me that the "peacekeepers" were the ones to shoot first, and the individual only ran to protect himself after the first shot was made. The "peacekeeprs" own account was that the individual had raised his gun at them, which is when they opened fire. This clearly isn't shown in the video.

One thing I've been seeing commented on reddit is the idea that he ran toward the crowd and so the shooting was justified, it's hard to tell from this video the exact timing because of the distance but he appears to run after being shot. I've seen this reported by others as well, not sure if that's based on this video or actual witnesses. Police stated they are investigating the shooter and may bring charges against him.

but he appears to run after being shot

It's him on adrenaline from even planning and starting to execute that stuff. Some people brake bones and still try to run ignorious to pain. He may have hardly registered the damage he got at the moment, and the fear and remorse fueled them enough to run away.

The shooting is, imho, justified, but the person shooting was unprofessional, too nervous and was shooting too high. If they aimed at the crouch level, there couldn't be a fatal result. I do think it's good to have someone armed around these protests, but there should be some bottom line to how they are trained because they, as shown there, can do too much damage to justify their presence. I think we'd find enough evidence to tell that they prevented a planned mass shooting taking a dozen of persons injured or dead, but they objectively stood there while lacking a proper expertise to do their job. It is at the very least unresposnible and I do feel they deserve some unintetional murder charges.

Remorse? What do you think he was planning? The person in black that was shot was present at several protests in SLC armed, a known leftist, I guess I can't say for certain but it's highly doubtful he was there to do a mass shooting. I have seen many people that looked exactly like the guy in black holding rifles at numerous protests since 2020. Though yeah I understand how someone would be afraid, but the 'security' did not seem properly trained for this and I would guess will get some kind of involuntary manslaughter charge, if anyone gets charged in the end.

Who'd be recognized at the moment notice, right?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 18 hours ago

No, I wasn't trying to imply anyone would know that, just that based on the info that's come out it doesn't seem like he was planning a mass shooting.
