I don't understand. What does the phrase "it's shorted out" mean? It is related to short hand like he didn't commit to actually writing anything down he just scribbled it like a child?

I don't know if it's a colloquialism thing or if there's just something else going over my head.

It's 'psychic paper', it shows what the holder wants it to. Like a super adaptable fake ID

It's 'shorted out' like an electrical appliance would if you overload it, because it's been asked to do too much

(in the Dr Who world, 'magic' things like psychic paper are acutally just advanced technology)

Aw that sounds familiar. I watched those episodes when they first aired but I forgot enough of it that I assumed the in-universe tech was actually just an American English vs British English language difference lol.

thanks.

Sorry Tenant AND Tom Baker fans, Matt Smith is the GOAT.

Smith is up there for sure, but Capaldi will always be the Doctor to me

He had some great episodes, but the swing from Hartnell-like curmudgeon to guitar-wielding goofball didn’t really hit for me. It felt like they were trying too hard to make him seem cool. Capaldi himself is fantastic though, especially his stint on Torchwood.

11 is up there, yes, but no 4 or 10.

I’m on my first watch through of Old Who and gotta say, 4 is a little overrated. I’d currently rank 11 > 10 > 2 > 4. Then IDK, 12 or 15.

You kinda had to be there for 4. It was a different time.

It does take a different attitude to watch old who I feel, I did start with new ones and watched a good chunk of 3-7 but all of 4. 4 is my favourite, but maybe just cause I want him to be and give the allowances of old who, I do wish I watched it new but had no idea what it was back then. That said Tenent is so very close to favourite he seems to have similar energy. Though Eccleston was absolutely fantastic of course.

All in all, the Doctor is my favourite frictional character so I do watch a lot old and new even the worst doctors (to be fair usually by writing more than acting) are more fun to watch than many shows.

Pity about his show-runner.

Better than the shitbag Whittaker got

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I won't disagree, but it's reaaallly close.

I like Moffat and his obsession with kudzu time plots.
