“BD” refers to Franco-Belgian comics, but let's open things up to include ALL Euro comics and GN's. Euro-style artistry from around the world is also welcome. ^^

* BD = "Bandes dessinées"
* BDT = Bedetheque
* GN = graphic novel
* LBK = Lambiek
* LC = "Ligne claire"

This will be a little bit of an oddball post, covering several things:

  1. As for the recent post, I did get to checking out The Spire and added my comments to the OP. Sorry / not sorry.

  2. I'm still a bit 'confustrated' at the idea of moving to PieFed, as it doesn't look like it's going to preserve all our content, and yet... what the hell? It's better than nothing, isn't that right?

For example, we have ~550 posts here on EGN+, yet only... 385 are seemingly showing up via PieFed's preservation of our sub/community. Is this normal? Is this just some expected 'collateral damage,' not worth bitching and moaning about? Example of this site as seen through PieFed

  1. Getting back to the OP, I'm a huge fan of examining possibilities for what life was like across the ~300k years of modern humans' existence. I mean, we moderns tend to think of 'human history' as basically ranging back to the dawn of pre-civ, pre-agro times (at best), but man... in truth, it is much, much older, and there was even (at minimum) a pretty cool film (albeit depicting H. neanderthalensis rather than H. sapiens), but I think the point was made, eh?

Check it sometime if you're curious! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+quest+for+fire+movie

Still, getting back to this precise series & this comics' premise, I found this one full of strong, realistic scenarios. Not quite 'brilliant' in any particular way, but overall rather fascinating via its art-storytelling mashup. Certainly, the biggest idea was the idea of 'bitchy spirits' inhabiting each of us, affecting our thoughts, judgements and actions.

Now does that make a smidgen of sense?
I actually think it does!

  1. Honestly, this is getting a bit tiresome, but... ...my eyesight is kinda... fading. I.e., things are getting 'misty' from my end, and I have no idea what's going to happen with me, en futuro.

So far it seems like it might be high-BP related, but there's also the fact that macular degeneration runs heavily on my one grandmaw's side. I guess we'll just have to see how the meds and upcoming examinations will shed light (haha) upon all this.

Alright, peace-out, folks!

Watched that movie as a kid and still remember how I identified with the neanderthal crew. Later in the story when they meet the Sapiens, I was like "Who are those guys, they are weird!". Maybe I should have my genome analyzed... :D

I'm new to lemmy and this community. Currently using Voyager. I can search throught the +500 posts with keywords, which is great. Jerboa does not seem to have this search function. I hope the content will remain available like this as I thought that was the whole point of lemmy. I'm not sure how else I can interact with it. Browsing would be tedious, but a randomizer could be useful, if that were possible.

Thanks for the feedback! So when you browse via those apps, does it need you to do so via your lemmy.zip acct, or can you do it vanilla-style?

Also, did you try looking at the community through the PieFed link above? (here it is again) That's the one where a good chunk of the posts seem missing, but maybe that's because PieFed wasn't around for the earliest stuff.

Yeah, preserving content via the Lemmy collective is definitely a huge point, altho again, as I understand it, any specific instance that does has to have been around at the time already, i.e. instances don't just go back and archive material automatically.

I’m not sure how else I can interact with it.

If all goes well, hopefully this will be possible after migrating the content to PieFed.

Browsing would be tedious...

Gee, that's kinda disappointing to hear, as I've specifically curated things such that users should be able to merrily browse content all the way back to day one. Is it tedious because of the stuff you're seeing which simply doesn't interest you at all, or..?

but a randomizer could be useful, if that were possible.

As for a randomiser, nice idea! Altho of course the contiguous content is already pretty random, haha. But seriously, as a sort option, that would certainly be neat.

I must have given the wrong impression. I highly value your posts and I look forward to go through the entire collection. I am a bit struggling with all the lemmy and piefed stuff, but I'll figure it out. I've created a piefed account and it looks promising. By the way, I really like your writing style, it's very refreshing in this current age of Al generated trash.
