My parents constantly preached that education was the solution, that I should go get a degree and get a "good" job instead of what they did. My dad's line was always "get a morning shower job, not a night shower job".
Now I work in technology and make a volume of money I'd never even have dreamed to make as a kid. But when I'm, like, ordering a burger or someone else is mowing the lawn at my condo association, I always think that could have been me. How the fuck do I deserve a very privileged life and they do not? They are working their asses off.
I donate, I volunteer, but I have a nagging sense that I just won the fucking lottery and I don't deserve my privilege any more than anyone else deserves their poverty.
idk if anyone else experiences this but is it weird?
