I mean yeah, its not as intuitive though. I have a buddy who doesnt own a controller and plays all soulslikes with kbm. Hes broke af.

Yeah, easier IMO
Pretty much. I've played all Soulsborne + Sekiro on PC using kbm, and though it's not that much easier than using a controller, some things are way better, like fighting unlocked or using bows.
But you really have to remap some keys, because the default keymap is horrendous.
Easier?! I think I must have played maybe dark souls 2 on mouse and keyboard. Demons souls, DS1, and DS3 and elden I did all with a controller. If it was an FPS I'd go mouse and keyboard but I don't know how this game is easier.
Maybe I should try it again 😅
I honestly never considered it until now but it makes sense. Mouse sensetiviny can be adjusted so you never need to use the lock on which can open a new dimension of control. Getting stabbed in the back on a controller and monitoring multiple enemies is a bit tricky sometimes.
Next time I boot it up I'm going to give it a shot.
I want to be mad at you for even asking that question. Why would anyone even want to play on a controller? Just another sign this new generation has brainrot by watching too many tiktoks on their phone.
Like many others, I've played Souls games exclusively with mouse and keyboard. I would highly recommend the following keybind remaps
- primary weapon light attack - right mouse button
- secondary weapon light attack - left mouse button
This mirrors the position of the weapon with the mouse button making it more intuitive.
I tried it recently and it's playable, but you probably want to change some of the keybinds. In particular, dodge on shift is rough

Yeah, I started playing it with M&Kb before getting a controller and it's not that bad. The weirdest thing for me was the mouse movement, it usually moves the camera as expected, but if you lock on a target, it moves the lock to another enemy, so you need the get used to not move the mouse if you want to lock targets.
100%, like other people said just change keybinds. I’ve beaten dark souls 1 and 2 with KBAM and gotten a fair bit of the way through DS3 and Elden Ring with keyboard and mouse (KBAM) too. If you aren’t used to playing with KBAM you might have issues figuring out what to bind stuff to, and even then you might get frustrated at first (I quit DS2 initially) but it’s definitely doable. IMO KBAM is much easier for these kinds of games (3rd and 1st person) than a controller once you’re used to it.
