Funny that all these liberal academics are leaving the US...only to go to vassalized nations like Canada and to urban centers like Toronto.

Just say you want public healthcare and an escape from thinking about your nations oppressed people ffs.

Fleeing from USA to USA 2 lmao. But of course it makes sense, they aren’t opposed to fascism, they’re opposed to fascism that targets them. Stalin social democracy quote etc etc

Like Italian bourgeois leaving the city during the plague, the USAmerican bourgeois academics will come back after the neoliberal shock to the working class subsides to levels acceptable to them.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago

They're not even opposed to fascism that targets them. Snyder isn't fleeing any threat at all.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago

The person already got hired as a professor pre-trump, its just a loud announcement statement. Besides if you arent explicitly extremely vulnerable, then leaving just gives the fash the victory. The us isnt south africa or Israel, there are enough settlers to maintain the colony.

People who can afford to move to another country are in the least danger to begin with.

Snyder is one of the guys that loser using LLMs to call the 1932 USSR famine a genocide cited. He's been doing this pundit circuit for a while saying nonsense like this. Is that what led you to this video?

YouTube scraping hexbear to associate it with your YT account and serve you up anticommunist slop!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, fuck that guy

People say the democrats should be doing more, they should be fixing things. But if you want the Democrats to do things, you have to create the platform for them. You have to create the spectacle, the pageantry, the positive energy, the physical place where they can come to you.

THE SENATE MINORITY LEADER ALREADY HAS A PLATFORM WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

what a fucking ridiculously stupid thing to say.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah the guy is a dum-dum. Academia is a special place. People compartmentalize like crazy, turning off the parts of their critical approach to thinking as needed. An example is when a young earth creationist gets a PhD in something biological. This also applies to every other field, including history. And it is actually more prevalent there, as funding and promotion mechanisms reward liberal apologists and anticommunism, but not young earth creationism. So this guy can do a bunch of highly specific historical work and do an okay job at it, get published, have students, etc etc, but also say the goofiest crap and get away with it because it is for a lay audience or at a conference with th3 Black Book of Communism guy. They are not hounded out, but are instead rewarded because this part of their work provides a baseline for the freedom burger eagle institute to continue villifying the left. And people like this control the peer review process.

If you get an NYT op-ed you no longer have to specify that you're an expert fascist

He wrote this little book called "Bloodlands" where he equated USSR to Nazi Germany, in terms of atrocities

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I see his books eveywhere now. The On Tyranny one. Thanks for letting me know to avoid them

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

My brother bought that book for everyone one Christmas because he thought it was so important

double genocide aficionado who likes ukraine a lot for wrong reasons

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm guessing he hasn't had half as much to say about the actual genocide for over a year

I will repeat for a second time, the words "final solution" and "Gaza" are both spoken in this video with no real relation to eachother. no-mouth-must-scream

Mfer... :cracker: do anything but recognize them as human

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Im too lazy to watch what country are they fleeing to for "refuge"?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

3 lib academics have decided to flee to Canada, Europe (etc. any non-U.S western vassal of the U.S).

I think one of them was using le ebil Russian terms to basically describe Trump's gov't / U.S regime.

(my God, Russiagate and equating USSR to Nazi Germany has done a number on the lib brain)

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 weeks ago

lib academics have decided to flee to Canada, Europe

Well theyre in for a surprise if they think that those countries are safe from fascism

michael-laugh

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

Posting a comment I made last time Stanley got in the news about his sudden flight

Gonna say, Stanley doesn't impress me with his work. I read 'How Fascism Works' and it's pretty typical liberal fash apologia; focussing solely on the cultural flashpoints the fascists like to use to gain power and barely if ever addresses the material interests bound up in fascist states and how the rich business class props them up. After having read it I found Blackshirts and Reds to be all but a direct counter argument to basically everything he says and properly addresses the most important question about fascist states: for whom does the state benefit? Parenti never shies away from explaining that they only gain power because they have rich sponsors who want for state power and how it contrasts so much with Socialism which puts the proletariat first and foremost. Indeed, Stanley never properly goes into any of the class dynamics at play when it comes to the levers of power.

We're experts in fascism

They deadass only mention Gaza only once to talk about Trump's corruption ("I wanna buy Gaza." trump-drenched ) When a minute ago they mentioned the possiablility of some future unspecific final solution that the us "could" be working towards.

...

...

...

Wow. Could you Imagine that? A final solution? Could you really imagine that happening? ~~To you?~~ It would be so horrific and tragic if that could happen. /s
