Fediverse is a portmanteau of "federation" and "universe".

I’ve noticed that most Porn online spaces — like:

Pornhub

Redtube

Xhamster

Literotica (not a video site, but does host sex stories)

etc.

are centralized or rely on closed platforms.

Given the rise of the Fediverse and its ability to host decentralized, community-driven platforms (Mastodon for microblogging, Pleroma for lightweight social feeds, PixelFed for image sharing, Lemmy for Reddit, PeerTube for video, etc.), has anyone ever thought about potentially attempting a federated network specifically Porn, as well as Sex Workers?

Perhaps it could be in the style of Lemmy, or Peertube.

Does anyone know of any ongoing projects like this, or have thoughts on how such a network could be structured?

What challenges do you foresee (moderation, privacy, drama, etc.), and what features would be most valuable to the Porn/Sex Worker community?

I’d love to try building or contributing to something like this, but unfortunately I lack the ability and energy.

Still, I think the idea is worth discussing.

You don't need to make a separate post for every "x type of site but federated". The answer doesn't change. If you feel strongly about it, you can host it yourself!

It's probably not what you're imagining, but there is the lemmynsfw instance which is a Lemmy instance that is more or less explicitly for porn.

I'm already aware (and active) on LemmyNSFW.

What I was imagining though, was a platform like Peertube or Lemmy, only JUST for NSFW.

Kinda like having Pornhub, but decentralized.

Sex Workers could have their videos/stories/etc. on there, and perhaps use either payment apps like:

PayPal,

Cash App,

etc.

to enact transactions.

Perhaps call it something like BlueTube (because Blue Balls), or something similar.

I see a lot potential challenges around moderation, consent, and the law that aren't really worth overcoming without a clear potential for profit, but there might be people who are waaaay more enthusiastic about the idea than I am, so who knows?
