I move a motion to rename Capricorn Coast to Cooker Coast.
mayor Adam Belot was basing his about-face on the heavily-debunked Channel 7 News report on nickel manufacturing in Indonesia
He may not have shares in oil or even received much of a bribe. Just rabidly ideologically driven.
I don't understand the useful-idiots who don't even want renewables to succeed. I understand questioning of viability (we need to guard against green-washing) but they get angry whenever there is news of progress with renewables.
But he probably does have shares in oil or received a bribe tho. Better to seem like an idiot than corrupt.
Am always surprised by how little it costs to bribe Australian politicians.
Nah, it's just the propaganda by the oil companies working. You'll also see people suddenly bringing up brake dust and tire microplastics in relation to electric cars (even though ICE cars have the exact same issues).
Not saying those aren't real problems that should be solved, but they're usually just brought up to stop renewable projects from going ahead.

Council votes again to dump public EV fast charging station β then changes its mind
I think it's saying that they'll go ahead with the chargers now. In having trouble parsing the edits to be honest

Yeah, it's really confusingly worded
Last week the Livingstone Shire council voted to cancel a deal to install the Capricorn Coastβs first EV charger, and a followup meeting held on Thursday to reverse the decision initially failed to win over the required number of four councillors.
But a surprise second motion from the mayor reversing last weekβs decision while also asking state and national local government associations to investigate renewables, got up.
So my read of it is:
- Cancel project
- Try to undo cancellation but fail
- Try and succeed to undo cancellation
But I'm not that confident in my comprehension of it
