Yep its a shadow drop. Out now on steam at least. No idea if its any good or not. At least the gfx are shiny. Never cared much for Oblivion back in the day. (Prefered Morrowind and Skyrim) but I might give this a try one day.

At least its going to feel like a whole new game for me if I get to it, since I played it so little back when I first tried it.

Crack is already out and propagating across the internet. It's up on private trackers right now. Check cs.rin.ru later today and I bet it'll be there. doggirl-thumbsup

Edit: 13 minutes later, and it's there.

I just reinstalled the original and am modding it now because fuck playing it unmodded

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can't imagine playing a Bethesda game without merging .esp files because I've already hit the 255 limit.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You don't really need to do that anymore on Skyrim they merge small mods automatically and lots of mods don't even need esps anymore

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It has been probably 5 years since I've really tried to get a play through going but I was mostly just making a bad joke.

Cool, how easy is it to pirate

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

it's been cracked. the RUNE release is out, you can find it on 1337x or rutracker but ratios are gonna be nasty on public trackers at least for the next day or two. i'm grabbing it currently off a private tracker but even from there its slow as hell cause so many people want it. best bet might be to wait for fitgirl or DODI repack.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

The one good thing about bethsoft is their lax anti-piracy measures. Let's me try things before committing with a purchase in 10 years

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I've been meaning to ask. Is this community okay with piracy? Desperately need space to discuss stuff but it's been hard to find

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 month ago (3 children)

pirate-jammin piracy is awesome and we encourage it unless you have the means to not do it (but also do it anyway because money is best spent elsewhere)

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Microsoft (who owns Bethesda) is on the BDS boycott list, so piracy is the correct move

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fuck the screm-aaaaa space and support cool indies if you can.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

That's why the money is best spent elsewhere (stealing groceries)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Great! My current setup of Linux+Piracy has been hard to find support and community for. Glad to see at least the major part of the issue is a non issue here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

linux

piracy

Those are the magic words around here.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Shoutout to the one user who told me that suggesting people should switch to Linux was ableist lmao.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I managed to install Linux and i look at computers like they're magic half of the time.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I really enjoyed my Linux setup (up until I realized that Ubuntu was really sucking and I needed to start over). Dunno what's the slickest way to make pirated stuff work but I was using portproton back then

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ohh I found one. There's a Linux repacker who does script installers that you just have to download and run. And it even creates an application shortcut. No other tweaking necessary as long as you're using a distro that's pretty up to date.

The downside is that there's very few seeds so downloads might be slow. And since it's one person, they don't keep around all the games they've done, SSP when I get older games I sometimes have to just let the torrent be active in the background for some random seeder to show up days later.

The name is LinuxRulez.

Love to hear it. I've been pirating pretty much everything for the past year and been hard to find discussions and community.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago

this instance has more people who pirate than not

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Skyblivion still looks better imo, there's not a brown overlay on everything, and it will be much easier to mod out of the box.

There doesn't appear to be an AI disclosure on the Steam page, which Steam requires for games with AI generated assets.

So I guess they probably didn't just run everything through some shitty "AI upscaler" and slap a $50 price tag on it.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

From what I can tell they just contracted a studio out of Singapore to handle it which seems to be the play nowadays for game remasters, hire a studio in Eastern EU or SEA to do all the labor and then rake in some nostalgia bucks.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

it's not the True Oblivion Experience if it doesn't have the item cloning bug

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

If I can't crash my system by filling a room with a mountain of watermelons, I'm not interested

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Get to the magic college n start handcraftin your own game-breaking spells. Also the assassins guild quests are good. Pretty meh otherwise

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Did they change gameplay or is it just the same game with upscaled visuals?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

In a move that has baffled everyone, it's the original 2000's gamebryo engine handling game logic while all 3D visuals have been remade from scratch with UE5 as a graphics wrapper.

They also changed some base combat mechanics to be less floaty, added hit reactions and FX, and added sprinting.

It is a strange Frankenstein's monster that can load mods made for the original Oblivion game and runs pretty shite

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Per reddit:

  • New voice acting (mixed in with original voices - each race has a unique voice now)
  • New combat animations with hit feedback
  • Sprinting system added
  • Reworked third-person view (aim was to match Starfield's TPV)
  • New levelling system (fusion of Oblivion + Skyrim...whatever that means)
  • New interface (retains the general aesthetic of the original game's UI)
  • New content with Deluxe Edition
  • Every model/texture in the game has been remade by hand
  • Remastered VFX and SFX, added effects for combat
  • Uses Unreal Engine 5 for graphics, original engine for core gameplay systems.
[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

AFAIK, the new level up system just hands you a bunch of points you can distribute to your attributes freely. The old leveling system was one of the very few things I would mod away every time I played so I'm happy with the change.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

the only condition i have for playing this is that if must be woke as hell and full of DEI.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

woke as hell will download as soon as i can.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Chuds are already malding because in character creation male/female has been changed to body type 1/2

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

someone already put up a mod on Nexus called "OG Body Type" to revert it to M/F 🙄

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

chuds are always malding call me when there's something new.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Maybe I'll be able to play this for more than a few hours. The original was terrible

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Just a matter of time before we get Morrowind Remastered.

And, of course, the main dish: Skyrim Remastered Extreme U5 Edition.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

can someone explain to me how gamebryo and ue5 are involved? i thought you could only have one engine running a game so like what is it

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Gamebryo is being used for the game logic while Unreal for the actual game afaik.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

can't wait to get lost in the fucking maze that is oblivion gates

oh you're supposed to find this cave entrance that has no signifying features and blends into the mountain face and in a completely random inconspicuous location and you've been running around trying to get to the main tower for 1.5 hours?

great fucking game wooooooooooo

all snobby comments about oblivion aside, the dark brotherhood questline is the best questline in the ES series. bar none.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Will prob. get it once the physical version's out

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

I'll probably get to this eventually if it is good. I just hope Expedition 33 is good and still does well with this competition.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Lol this is the first place I read of it while I was on break. My pc is too potato to run this, I don't have the space and I don't have the specs. I sort of want to see what skeletal system this thing is using, I'd guess its old Oblivion's system of nifs with just enough UE5 to make serious modding painful. They for sure reused some of OG Oblivion's attack animations. The lighting looks too grim for the land of happy potato people.

Anyway, modders for other retro communities remade their game for free using UE5, they remaster and charge, should have just upgraded the engine but that's #effort.

devs dont want to optimize their games anymore, smh

all the specs from this Remaster is honestly too much; storage size, 32 GB RAM to run it comfortably, prob need high spec CPU and GPU as well...
