Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for a used EV in the USA. My family needs a second car, and we've been driving a 2017 LEAF for several years now. We like it quite a bit, but it has limitations when compared to other EVs (40 kWh capacity and CHAdeMO charge port). Does anyone have any suggestions? We'd like something with more range, a NACS charge port, and under $25K. Does such a thing exist? Is there a good website that can help me narrow down options?

Thank you!

If you really want NACS under $25k you’re stuck with used Tesla. Otherwise, an adapter.

Okay good to know. I guess I'll get an adapter in that case.

I have a 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric I got used this past December for under $20K. It had been a corporate lease and only had 30k miles on it. 64KWh battery, over 250 mile range. It's comfy.

Awesome, thanks! I'll look for something similar.

I looked for ChaDeMO adapters a bit back and was told at the time it was impossible. Has that changed?

Edit I'm seeing some 2k-3k adapters on Amazon with no reviews... I'll research again but iirc this is very difficult to do since there's some way communication that is very hard to convert.

To be clear: a different car with CCS and an adapter for NACS. Between the charger and the battery, OP should get out of the leaf asap.

Ah, yeah that makes much more sense

Not EV specific, but I’ve used CarGurus.com several times and liked the experience. It finds specific vehicles in your area at different dealers and tells you if it’s a good or bad deal.

I'll check that out, thanks!

Also Carvana if you want to have them deliver the car to you.

I’ve seen Recharged mentioned on a few EV related YouTube channels I follow. Hopefully it’s helpful.
