If you ever wanna twist the knife (and keep twisting until you're back to c/bloomer), check out This Soviet World by Anna Louise Strong. The hope, optimism, and determination of the whole Soviet people blew my mind every chapter. For all of its many faults, the USSR was easily one of the greatest things humankind has ever created.
