A group of three German MPs have sent a letter to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to demand the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, Der Spiegel reported on Sept. 14. They argue that Ukraine needs the long-range missiles to "specifically weaken Russian war logistics" amidst the ongoing counteroffensive.

I mean, the issue is the worry that Ukraine uses the missiles to attack Russian territory, which Ukraine promised it will not do.

The war is very closely monitored, everyone would know if Ukraine used Taurus to attack Russian territory, so I think Ukraine would keep to the promise for that alone. And really, there are enough Russian targets on Ukrainian territory anyways.

Can Zelensky maybe make a public promise that these Taurus missiles will not be fired on anything outside of Ukraine's borders? Putting his credibility at stake should be enough, no? After all, he wants other weapons and breaking his promises would be a huge negative.

The letter was written by Andreas Schwarz from Scholz's own Social Democratic Party, Anton Hofreiter from the Greens, and Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann from the Free Democrats Party.

The taurus is a bunker buster not some cruise missile.

I think there is a misunderstanding. "Bunker buster" is describing a function of a weapon, independent from the weapon type. There are various different weapon types that have this ability.

"A bunker buster is a type of munition that is designed to penetrate hardened targets or targets buried deep underground, such as military bunkers." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunker_buster

The Taurus KEPD 350[a] is a Swedish-German air-launched cruise missile, manufactured by Taurus Systems and used by Germany, Spain, and South Korea.[8]

So exactly like Storm Shadow... with both being parallel developments coming from a former common project.
