I had no idea iMDB was anything more than a hobby project that got huge.

I am using The Movie Data Base (TMDB) since a couple of years. I think it it’s another hobby project. At least it works really well and, as far as I know is still independent.

Not sure if European per se.

The Book Depository used to be great and offered free shipping worldwide. But they were closed in 2023.
